What are the camera today, how they work and what are their characteristics ?

- Price 500-2000 USD
- 2-4 Mega pixel CCD
- sometimes 3CCD sensors, give better colors
- memory:
for the movie, it's stored on miniDV tapes or Hard disk or even memory card (SD, CompactFlash)
for pictures: on memory card mostly, sometimes Hard disk or miniDV
- LCD: 2-8'' diagonal
- interface for data transfer: Firewire (IEE1394, iLink), or USB 2.0

And don't bother comparing camera models, they are all more or less the same, with small variation and plenty of names. Take one with a Hard disk, a good image sensor (2Mpixel or more) and stop !
Don't think further, the multi-model confusion is a total non-sense. Don't waste your time.
