The goal of the <a href=\"http://www.longnow.org/about/about.htm\">Long Now</a href> project is to encourage people think about their actions and the consequencies in time.\r\nThe LN team think about the next 10\'000 years in these terms:\r\n\r\nThe Long Now Foundation GUIDELINES: (for a long-lived, long-valuable institution)\r\n1. Serve the long view (and the long viewer).\r\n2. Foster responsibility.\r\n3. Reward patience.\r\n4. Mind mythic depth.\r\n5. Ally with competition.\r\n6. Take no sides.\r\n7. Leverage longevity.\r\n\r\n>They want to create a clock and a library, to perpetuate the human knowledge to well beyond our short lifes.\r\n\r\nTHE CLOCK AND LIBRARY PROJECTS\r\n\r\nCivilization is revving itself into a pathologically short attention span. The trend might be coming from the acceleration of technology, the short-horizon perspective of market-driven economics, the next-election perspective of democracies, or the distractions of personal multi-tasking. All are on the increase. Some sort of balancing corrective to the short-sightedness is needed-some mechanism or myth which encourages the long view and the taking of long-term responsibility, where \'long-term\' is measured at least in centuries. Long Now proposes both a mechanism and a myth.\r\n\r\nLinks:\r\nhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Now\r\nLibrary - human knowledge -Rosetta stone\r\nhttp://www.rosettaproject.org/live\r\nhttp://www.rosettaproject.org/live/disk\r\nhttp://www.longnow.org/10klibrary/library.htm\r\nhttp://www.transfert.net/a1117
